Step 1: Add RPMforge repository access for your CentOS system. (Required for the majority of multimedia packages.)

You can read the installation instructions at Installing RPMForge.

The following steps will use yum to install all the packages needed to have full multimedia support. Note there will be a lot of dependencies.

yum install compat-libstdc++-33 libdvdcss libdvdread libdvdplay libdvdnav lsdvd libquicktime

yum install flash-plugin mplayerplug-in mplayer mplayer-gui gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly

Step 3: Install the w32Codecs. (Required for xvid and other proprietary formats.)

rpm -ivh mplayer-codecs-20061022-1.i386.rpm

rpm -ivh mplayer-codecs-extra-20061022-1.i386.rpm

Touchpad scroll not working in Ubuntu

Installing gsynaptics – a graphical interface to control the touchpad

This app does however require that SHMConfig be enabled.

To do this, open a terminal and enter :

Try this open a terminal by pressing ctrl+alt+t

sudo gedit /etc/hal/fdi/policy/shmconfig.fdi

and in the file that opens, place the following text:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<deviceinfo version="0.2">
<match key="input.x11_driver" string="synaptics">
<merge key="input.x11_options.SHMConfig" type="string">True</merge>

Now you can install gsynaptics:

sudo apt-get install gsynaptics

The final step is to reboot, so that SHMConfig is enabled. Once rebooted, you will have a new item in your Preference menu, “Touchpad” (which is gsyanptics).

Visit this link for more details :

Or, Alternatively try out this :

sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/touchpad.conf
put the row:
options psmouse proto=imps
into the file, save and close, then reboot to test if it works...

Universal PC Suite For Android Smart Phones

Universal PC Suite For Android Smart Phones

Some Android Smart Phone manufacturers/vendors don't provide PC Suite for their android products. So it becomes very difficult to  synchronize Contacts (Phonebooks), Messages, Call Logs, Files/Folders, Apps etc with the PC/Laptop.

Even if they provide the PC Suite, due to its large file size its very difficult to download and install them  every time  as they require internet for their installations to complete.

So, alternatively we can download and install an alternative Universal PC Suite For Android Smart Phones.

Since version 1.8 MyPhoneExplorer supports Android-based phones (connected via WiFi, USB cable or Bluetooth)

  • Adressbook - with direct sync to Outlook, GMail, Windows contacts, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Lotus Notes and Tobit David
  • Organizer with calendarview and direct sync to Outlook, Google, Sunbird, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Windows calendar(Vista), Rainlendar, Lotus Notes, Tobit David and net shared calendars (WebDAV, FTP, local)
  • SMS - archive, export, import, excessive messages,...
  • Filebrowser with cachesystem to minimize datatransfer, automatic photosync...
  • Set phoneclock based on atomtime
  • and much more. f.e.: calllists, edit profiles, control phone, memorystatus, phonemonitor,...

Two files are required for this PC Suite to work:

MyPhoneExplorer Client : (.apk for Phone)

MyPhoneExplorer Software : (.exe for PC/Laptop)

You need to install adb driver on pc and you should enable usb  debugging mode on the phone.

Universal adb drivers link :

I have personally tested this PC Suite with Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330 (Android ICS 4.0.4) and with Sony Ericsson Cedar J108i (Non Android) phones.  A good alternative to OEM PC Suite.
